As I washed my aunt 998 engine, from a 1972 clubman estate, I was expecting to find the yellow paint under the black grime.

But despite the 99H353E-xxxxxx serial number I was surprised to descover a Red block ! And further more with an inscription on this block : 12A - 497

My aunt certified that the engine has never been modified or rebuild.

Have you any explanation to suggest me ?

I am now wondering how to repaint it ! Black-Yellow or Red ?...
