Rebuild and resto

It's time to start some mechanical work on my estate now that the weather is too poo to try any more bodywork. I've started clearing the engine bay and managed to remove starter motor, alternator, ignition system and cooling system yesterday before taking the head off. At first look I thought it was a right off from the state of it. I then realised it was just crusty with a thick layer of carbon. Should be able to clear it off before refitting.

OK my ce has been fitted with a 850 at some time in its life, bit silly i thought as the engine is older than the car! it is now hanging on to life desparetly as it pumps oil out of every possible place so time for a rebuild. i managed to get a 998 for it, so strip down found a split piston, which may explain why the car it was in ended up in a scappy 20 yars ago! other than that all looks OK. the block and crank are of to the machince shop for a grind and bore, going to fit the 998 flat top...

My White Clubman Estate

Its a 1980, Clubman estate, with a 998cc engine, but do have the original 1098cc with it, that needs stripping and hopefully go back into it eventually if its a good engine! Its going to be my 'everyday' car, but needs a few minor things done to it, then some other things that can be completed whilst using it! Hey all,
just though i'd start a build thread for my CE,
it had been sitting for about 7 years before i got it, and had been sitting for many more before that. Anyway, i spotted it in someones driveway, down the side of their garage. i went in and asked about it, and £500 later it was mine.
it was a few miles away from my house so we had to tow it, so we pumped up the tyres and pulled it home, it went ok.

A few years ago now, I bought a rather crusty, lightly accident damaged, MOT failure of a Mini 30. The car itself was really too far gone to salvage. But I already knew that, and all along had the intention of breaking it. Don't worry though, I kept the number plates, logbook, and VIN plate. If it ever is the case that I'm rich enough to afford a brand new Heritage shell, I can build it back up again!

not too far away from mot now ,just about see the light at the end of the tunnell!
brake pipes all renewed ,new discs , later servo and master cylinder fitted , all the #%** welding sorted ,new rad ,drive shaft seals,gear change seal.
waiting to get the mini lights painted , then he will be back on his wheels n mot here we come !! happy days
still got a running problem i think ,well i did find a stray washer in the float chamber ,but i dont think that will sort it

My new project. Rust wagon.

The plan is to get it rust free. Sitting on Banded cooper s 10"s, low as, black roof, black arches, brown or black interior, some yellow lamp covers, same color, 1380 supercharged.
Got the wheels got the engine block, head, just needs few other bits. Got the charger. need to order all the panels and get the body fresh firstly as its a right state. I want to be able to turn it back to standard so most mods will be in keeping but i am planning on...

To do list:

Driver and passenger front floor pan
Both a-pillars
Definitely a new sill on passenger side, maybe on driver side
Rub in all surface rust and hope for the best!
Replace corners of scuttle
Strip and replace brakes
Rear sub frame mountings might need work

Cosmetic stuff:

Remove stickers
Change seats
Change steering wheel
Retrim dash
Remove bull bars
Remove sun strip

This is my VW Rebuild! It officially started today, i'm not allowed to do much of the work because of my health but I am helping as much as I can. Mainly just taking the Van apart at the moment, ordering some parts tommorow. Aim is to get it MOT'd by late July.

Well I set myself a challenge, to get Evy back on the road in time to go to IMM and Clubman 40. Since Evy is a 71J clubby saloon, in fairly original condition, she deserves to go!

Evy has been stood around for about 5 years, mostly in a barn. Ziebart and oil leaks have combined to keep the demon tinworm at bay for the most part, but the original autobox had failed, so last summer I dropped in a 998 manual from a '74 car.

Strangely enough my recent woes with Gigi and Harriet have sort-of kick-started work on my CE again! Basically because it's clogging up the garage and lying under a car in the rain is no fun.

Checking back, I've now had this car 7 years (really?) and it's not getting much closer to being on the road. In fact I think it's been in the garage for about three years...

Ok chaps finally sorted the ce brakes this week have fitted the 8.4 inch disc assy from a late mini on to the ce with a standerd set of 12 inch steel wheels with145x12 tyres Looks fab you need to have spacer drums on the back but no wheel arches which is great cos I am not a great fan of them. Will try and put a piccie up some time
